Due to the forecasted rain, middle school will not be having exploratory day tomorrow, June 14th.
As we finish out the school year, I want us to finish out strong! Lately, disruption in the classroom has increased yet expectations have always remained the same. To protect everyone's right to learn, I have added a new consequence when classroom expectations have not been met. The first consequence has always been a warning, now the second consequence will be asking the disruptive student to leave the classroom and sit in the office for the remainder of class time. This will be accompanied with a note home that will need to be signed, as well as an Academic notice to make up the work that was missed in class. Should this consequence not be sufficient and behavior continues, the final consequence will be automatic detention with dismissal from the classroom if warranted.
It is my hope that I never have to send anyone out of my classroom as providing students with as much learning opportunity as possible is my main goal. Reviewing the classroom rules and consequences with your child and discussing with them what this means and looks like, also goes a long way in helping me help your child be successful in class. As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. I continually thank you for your support of me and my students. Sincerely, Mrs. Cote Classroom Expectations: 1. Respect yourself, your peers, your teacher, and your surroundings. 2. Raise your hand silently to speak. 3. Follow all directions quickly the first time they are given. A message from our own Kristina Judkins:
"My name is Kristina Judkins. I am in 5th grade and when I was two years old I had cancer. Now I am cancer free. Every year I got Relay for Life to raise money to find a cure for cancer. This year's fund raiser is to fill the eggs with coins. Each grade will have 60 eggs to fill. You can fill them during break Monday through Thurfsday next week. This Friday and next Friday will be Hat Days. Put 50 cents in an egg an you can wear your hat for the day. In the hallway will be a bulletin board showing each grade's progress. Thanks for your support." Every student has their own folder where I turn back their graded work. If it's been a while since you've seen anything come home for paperwork, you may want to remind your child to take a look in their "mailbox".
Please click on the Homework tab to view Test/Quiz retake policy. Thank you!
6-1 has been learning about the water cycle and last week and this week have been creating games, crosswords, models, and even songs to showcase what they have learned. Report cards were distributed today! Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
Grades for the first trimester have closed. No new work will be accepted!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Monday will be a day to hit the restart if the first trimester was a difficult one, it is going to be a day for new beginnings. Get rest and then get ready, we're all going to be one more trimester older!! |
