I’m not going to lie, I didn’t think it could be done. I thought for sure I was starting something that would come to a crashing hault. Boy am I glad I was wrong!! Watching the whole class come together to work on 1 bulletin board to show 3 matter cycles was just awesome to witness! Ideas were being shared, collaboration was happening, praise and constructive criticism were being given and being accepted, and minds were changed. One student even told me that she understood why I made them work on this project together, why it was ok that it wasn’t going to come out perfect. She had recognized that where one person’s weakness lies, another’s strength lies and the beauty in it all is recognizing your own weaknesses and other’s strengths. She told me that she wished she had understood it sooner.
Watching these kids grow and learn and understand and work together made me a little teary eyed! The bulletin board is gorgeous and has already gotten many positive reviews and piqued curiousities!
